How the Pitman schedule works
- Each crew works 7 shifts in 14 days.
- Crews A and C share the day shift, and crews B and D share the night shift.
- Crew C starts a week after crew A, so the two day crews never work the same day.
- Every other weekend is a three-day weekend off.
Pros
- No switching between days and nights.
- Never more than three shifts in a row.
- Every other weekend off.
Cons
- Night crews stay on nights unless the department rotates them.
- Weeks alternate between 60 and 24 hours.
- Two-day breaks in the middle of the cycle.
