50/50 custody schedules

In a 50/50 schedule each parent has the children 7 of every 14 nights. Four rotations do that; they differ in how long each stay is and how often the children change homes.

Questions

What is a 50/50 custody schedule?
A schedule where each parent has the children for half the nights, 7 of every 14. The common versions are 2-2-3, 2-2-5-5, 3-4-4-3 and week on/week off.
What is the best 50/50 custody schedule?
It depends on the children's ages, the distance between homes and work hours. Shorter stays such as 2-2-3 suit young children; week on/week off has the fewest moves. Your parenting plan decides what fits your family.
Which 50/50 schedules alternate weekends?
2-2-3, 2-2-5-5 and week on/week off all give each parent every other weekend.
How many nights a year is 50/50 custody?
About 182 nights for each parent, with one extra night going to one of them.
