How the 2-2-3 schedule works
- Week 1: parent 1 has Monday and Tuesday, parent 2 has Wednesday and Thursday, parent 1 has Friday to Sunday.
- Week 2: the same days, with the parents swapped.
- The children are never more than 3 nights away from either parent.
- There are 6 exchanges every two weeks.
Pros
- Short gaps with each parent, which suits young children.
- Equal time and alternating weekends.
Cons
- Many exchanges, so it works best when the parents live close to each other and to school.
- Each parent's weekdays change from week to week, which makes activities harder to plan.
